A hectic fusion of lo-fi, art punk and sci-fi surrealism, Populi (formerly Pop Goes) has been riding the wave of Montreal's underground music scene since 2012. Consisting of François Dubé (Stoylov, Anguilles), Tommy Johnson (IDALG., Ponctuation) and Nicolas Matte (Loïc April, IDALG), the trio sets itself apart by its exhibit of multiple influences tying the organic to the synthetic.
Their first album Fantôme Populaire, mixed by Jean-Michel Coutu (Jesuslesfilles, Yocto), came out in 2014. In 2016, the band began composing new music with sensibilities displayed through cosmic, cartoony and frantic arrangements, with which they are now completing a second album in french.
