Frais Dispo is the name chosen by the musicians of Foreign Diplomats to launch their very first album in French. Much more than a side project, Frais Dispo marks a new milestone in the careers of Élie Raymond (guitar, vocals), Antoine Lévesque-Roy (bass), Thomas Bruneau Faubert (trombone, synthesizers), Charles Primeau (guitars) and Antoine Gallois (drums).
The band has already taken their indie-pop repertoire across the Atlantic, performing at renowned festivals such as Reeperbahn (Germany), Paléo (Switzerland), Les Primeurs (France), Cervantino (Mexico), Osheaga, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and the Quebec City Summer Festival, and opening for such top acts as Violent Femmes, Phantogram, Teenage Fanclub, Vance Joy and Half Moon Run.
In 2021, they changed course and decided to explore songwriting in French, a first for lyricist Élie Raymond. This change of direction opened up the collective's compositions and opened the door to new colours that flirt with alt-country, folk and sound experimentation. Electric guitars, trombone and keyboards are joined by pedal steel and saxophone. Foreign Diplomats became Frais Dispo and signed with the Audiogram label on which the album Teinte, co-produced by Frais Dispo and Antoine Gallois, will be released in April 2023
