THREE STAGE BEASTS WITH HEAVY RIFFS AND THOUGHTFUL LYRICS DELIVERING HEAVY FRANCOPHONE ROCK WITH A 90S EDGE.
PRINCESSES is a three-headed fusion. Influenced by Rage Against the Machine, Marjo and Les Shirley, this new band is determined to make the spirit of Québec rock resonate fully and in French. In addition to being featured in the Coup de cœur francophone programming and selling out L’Escogriffe in Montréal twice, the group was named “Future Star iHeart Radio” on Énergie last November and was a finalist for “Espoir 2024” at the recent GAMIQ awards.
Face A In just one year, PRINCESSES wrote and recorded eleven original songs across two short albums—Face A (Fall 2023) and Face B (Spring 2024)—produced by David Bujold (FUUDGE) at Ryan Battistuzzi’s Stuzzio (Breastfeeders).
Born from hard work infused with fun and amps cranked to the max, this project is a form of therapy—a way to enjoy oneself and express through music. Characterized by a constant presence of fuzz but also polished melodies, with vocals that are sometimes soft, sometimes fierce, the band embraces the right to scream as well as to be vulnerable. PRINCESSES tackles everyday madness, questions of identity, performance-driven society, the cult of appearances, and society’s lack of interest in female sexuality.
The two leaders, Flavie and Marie-Philippe, are joined by a masked drummer, affectionately nicknamed Chouchoune, uniting their desire to create electrifying, wild melodies. Their first radio single, Vite, is a perfect example, and its rise on various Mediabase charts shows the strong interest in their music.
On stage, PRINCESSES is explosive, tight-knit, and full of fire. The energy is contagious for anyone who joins in. The band aims to push boundaries and bring a fresh, committed female energy to as many stages as possible.
